On a beautiful, unusually hot September afternoon 2023, in the heart of Bucharest, the town I grew up and studied, occurred a big event in my life: the opening of my exhibition of fashion drawings.
It was more than the quintessense of my life-work, it was a great emotional moment to be in the place of my youth, to meet my collegues and friends, which I have not seen for many, many years, since I left Romania, for living in Germany.
A very special feature of this fact was that the exhibition was organized by the Union of The Architects of Romania, of which I am a member, due to my basic profession, architecture. This beautiful profession formed me, gave me so much of wonderful knowledge, indispensable to my fashion career of visualizing trends and create trend books.
The exhibition had two parts: the one showed in some examples the process of trend research and visualization, which I did for 30 years. The main tendencies of the designer-shows were analysed and bundled in new creations presenting the news of the season.
The trend books, produced in Germany but distributed worldwide, were a creative information tool for the designers of the fashion industry.
In the last years I have been fascinated by the fabulous sensitivity of the watercolors, by the violent color impact of the inks and the play with fine or raw lines. At the same time I am seduced by the digital processing of the drawings, a technique which invites me to new and endless experiments.
It is not the detail that matters but the state of emotion given by the silhouette, the fabric and its movement around the human body. Capturing the harmony and elegance of a silhouette, but also irony, exaggeration, the iconoclastic, challenge, all these are the essence of the fashion illustration.
It’s all about MOODS….
